Johnston County has financed several public school projects for the Johnston County Public School System with $61 million general obligation bonds approved by County voters at a referendum held in November 2018, including a new elementary school, classroom additions at a high school and a middle school, a new field house facility at a high school, security improvements at all schools in the public school system, and various other renovations and improvements throughout the school system.

In addition, County voters also approved $15 million general obligation community college bonds at the referendum held in November 2018.  The general obligation community college bonds are being used to finance renovations to existing facilities at Johnston Community College and a new classroom building to house the College’s engineering program.
